I am 20 and my boyfriend/fiance max is 32. I am a model and he is a businessman, investment banker and entrepreneur. We have been dating for 1 year and live together. We recently got engaged.

Max has an ex girlfriend (he’s never been married or engaged) and 2 sons age 10 and 8. Hes a good dad and pays for their housing/education. They are sweet kids but his ex hates me. She insults me by calling me a blonde bimbo. Max is so angry that she’s rude to me.

Max’s family like me but they think I am not good enough for him as he’s wealthy and posh and I am not. They think I am a whore and have a string of ex’s.

His ex was not happy hearing about our engagement and how much max loves me. Max bought me an expensive ring which I am almost ashamed of wearing as I don’t feel worthy. Max wants me to give up modelling as it’s cheap and hates other guys looking at me. He says I don’t need to work.

Me and Max were out one night at a bar and a guy chatted me up and was very forward saying meet me at my hotel room for a good pounding! I was gobsmacked and max went crazy! Him and the guy got into a huge fight and both ended up very injured! I seen a side of max I hadn’t seen before.

I have found out that I am a few weeks
pregnant and max is honestly thrilled and elated. He is beaming with joy. We thought we would keep it quiet and then tell the boys which means telling his ex. She told me that I didn’t deserve a child as I am too young and am a blonde bimbo. And max doesn’t deserve any more kids and I will take all of his money. Max went crazy when I told him this and he had an argument with his ex and now they are not speaking. Max won’t talk to her again. His sons are in the middle of this mess! He’s never been angry with me before. My family like Max. I hate how people think I am stupid. I came out of education with all A*.

How should I deal with his anger? His ex? Sons? My baby? I feel stressed and Max is working all the time. He wants me to bond with his sons but I can’t

I’m a student with £20,000 to invest; I want to put it into a savings account/ fixed rate bond/ ISA, with a maximum 5-year term. Will I be paying tax on this (as I am a student) and if so how much?

Because I am in full-time education my financial future is quite uncertain – I am not in full-time employment with a reliable income (this is why I am not interested in the risk of stock investment etc).

The maximum interest I’ve found is 5% AER over a 5 year term in a HiSAVE Fixed Rate Account with the ICICI BANK. This sounds great, but 5 years may be a long time to have such a large amount tied up, when I’m unsure about my future (I’m only 20).

I’m new to all this, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Me and three Uni. mates have recently come home from a year working in Japan and decided to rent a place together. So we got all our stuff out of storage and, after a month of celebrating our return, moving in, and just about every other excuse we could think of ,it was finally time to set up the TV properly in time for the NHL playoffs.

This caused a problem – between the four of us, our living room looked like the tv section at pcworld, and worse, the girls had better kit than the guys. Now obviously there is nothing wrong with that, but male bonding was needed to restore the man-pride – a weekend mission to find and buy the best set up we could afford, and as a house of hockey nuts this was seen as an investment. Then there was a problem – my flatmate wanted us to get a hdmi cable that cost 1/5th the cost of the tv. Even I thought this was madness, Oddly the commission based sales assistant disagreed.

I lost. We helped that sales assistant pay for his degree. But not being one to give in, and having little else to do that afternoon, we agreed to test all the kit – how bigger difference do you actually get from HD?

We tested all our connections, blu rays, dvds, scarts, hdmi’s, you name it, it was there – our pride and joy in a sea of cables, and the difference? well what was the point?
1) up-scaling dvd player – the picture through the scart connector and the hdmi was the same.

2) blu ray player – played dvds exactly the same as the dvd player, played blu rays really well, but there wasn’t a great difference in picture over the dvd and the sound was exactly the same to our ears. Don’t get me wrong – blu ray looked better… but worth the money difference? no way.

4) The ps3 – composite and HDMI looked better than scart, but the same as each other and the scart picture wasn’t that bad – you’d never sit there thinking ‘I need to improve this’.

HD tv – this was the one area that mattered – compare a hd flat screen to the old crt and the difference was huge – what ever you connected, the picture looked better in every single way over our older tvs and non- hi def flat screens.

It surprised both of us how little ‘noticeable’ difference there was. I think we’d both got sucked into the hype about it all at the moment, and i was wondering if anyone else has got their new kit home and been surprisingly underwhelmed? – don’t get me wrong, like I said, the TV is amazing, and all the HD bits that go with it are better, they just aren’t a ‘how did we cope before’ moment.

So have you been disappointed like us? or do you think i’m wrong and hi def changed you’re life?

Your idea of a 7-course meal is taking a deep breath outside a restaurant.

You’re formulating a plan to rob the food bank.

You’ve rolled so many pennies, you’ve formed a psychic bond with Abe Lincoln.

Long distance companies don’t call you to switch anymore.

You look at your roommate and see a large fried chicken in tennis shoes.

You finally clean your house, hoping to find change.

You think of a lottery ticket as an investment.

Your bologna has no first name.

You give blood everyday… just for the orange juice.

Sally Struthers sends you food.

McDonald’s supplies you with all your kitchen condiments.
On Thanksgiving your dad would bring home
a picture of a thanksgiving meal.

At communion you go back for seconds.
You wash your toilet paper.

You have to save up to be poor.

You’re in college.

You are sterilizing your urine for reconsumption.

Your imaginary friend has more money than you.
You owe yourself money.

I’m 19, 20 in december. I don’t live with my mother I live with my boyfriend in a flat that my father gave me after the birth of my first child who is now three years old. The flat is actually for my daughter, it’s an investment, she can decide at 21 if she wants to keep it, rent it or sell it but it is currently in my control (it was in my father’s control until I turned 18)
I’m studying towards a degree in journalism and I work three days a week in a local paper. My boyfriend also works at his uncle’s stables giving riding lessons, looking after the horses, driving trailers and mucking out stalls. I am pregnant with our second child and my mother just thinks I’m throwing my life away. She dared to suggest to me the number of this family she knew that would adopt my daughter if I wanted them to and she offered to take me to the clinic her friend runs for an abortion. I was shocked when she dared to suggest that to me, especially when I work hard to give my daughter the best life I can even if I am sometimes limited in what I can do because of the injury to my leg after I fell off my horse before I got pregnant with my daughter. My mother just thinks I’m throwing my life away and wants nothing to do with her grand daughter. If I want to have a couple hours to myself or with my boyfriend my dad takes her even through he lives almost an hour away by car and she’s three minutes down the road. How can I convince her I’m not throwing my life away and to possible have her bond if her grandchild?
Tro, we’ve actually talked about marriage and decided to wait until after I finish my degree. We have what we called a none formal engagement because I keep refusing to have him by me a ring (To us the ring is the formal part) to prove me loves me.
She only had me and then most the time she had a nanny look after me. She doesn’t even know what it means to be a proper parent. She never did anything motherly for me. She would have rather gone to a Gala or some high society thing than go to my school plays or take me to the cinema or do anything a normal child would.

With the current worry about property prices we are in the process of selling our house. We should clear around 400k and presume the best thing to do would be to put into high interest account, max our cash isa’s and maybe some bonds (not really sure what bonds are?). We were going to buy another house straight away but now we feel we may as well rent for a while with no exposure to property prices falling and feel there will not be much if any appreciation in prices? Rent will around 1000 – 1200 per month so would like this cost covered by interest and hope for a 20% fall in house prices? Any advise for investments appreciated.

PS We don’t want to tie the money into anything for more than a year in case we do want to buy.

Your bologna has no first name.

You give blood everyday… just for the orange juice.

Sally Struther’s sends you food.

McDonald’s supplies you with all your kitchen condiments.

At communion you go back for seconds.

You wash your toilet paper.

You have to save up to be poor.

You’re in college.

On thanksgiving your dad would bring home a picture of a thanksgiving meal.

You owe yourself money.

You are sterilizing your urine for reconsumption.

Your imaginary friend has more money than you
